I have a 2009 toyota corolla xli with a 1300cc but 8000rpm. I have installed iridium plugs, intake, wider tires for grip, voltage stablizer and ground wiring. There was a performance increase. My engine is VVTi . what would be your recommendation to make it more faster in terms of acceleration. top speed is 240km. i can sacrifice that easily as limit is 140km.

Since Pontiac supercharged engines are lower compression what's the risk of blowing an engine by adding a supercharger??
Thanks

@Freeman 3: yes you need back pressure on the engine but even with a free flow cat you have to much back pressure. btw for turbo's they create there own back pressure on the engine, so a nice short side out let directly from the turbo will create the largest boost on the engine

@Daz: you've got a VTEC engine, yes you can do all the stuff and it will pay off (most standard vtec's crushes 2000 or more cc's engines)

@Alex: use the VR6 from VW (thats a V6) and yes this fits a Golf 2.
----
You can add more air into rotary engines and thats with porting (Street-, bridge-, J-,P-port) and the offcourse a banger of a turbo ;D or you can add more rotors (max 4) and that will give you (together with a big turbo) +-1600hp (see youtube: Queen Street Racing Quad Rotor)

i read your article for the naturally aspirated portion. i have a 95 lesabre 3.8l that i want to continue to up grade. later today 6/19/08 i will have the engine management reprogrammed. I already started with a high performance muffler, and k and n filter. I wanted to find out if a high flow catalytic converter is needed. I already put a new cat on from a Tuffy shop. do you think this is needed or if the back pressure should not be a problem now
